TAINTED DEMOCRACY- SHAME ON THEM AND US

For the past 2 weeks, as the whole of India (at least some sections) waited with eager anticipation, a whole new world was opening up on the Indian Political League. MP’s were greedily waiting for the early diwali gifts that would be granted to them. They were and are the chosen ones. Each daily was reporting the ‘sale price’ on the heads of each MP. Offers and counter offers were being made for the vote of each MP. Prices were being quoted between 3 crore to 20 crore. It was marketing and branding at its best. Buy one get 5 free was the offer by Shibu Soren and 5 of the JMM MPs. Some were looking to rename airports in honor of their fathers, others were looking to wipe out all the criminal cases in their names. All and sundry were for sale. It was a sale price for what price can one place on the values that our MP have forgotten-honesty, integrity, principle and accountability to their constituencies. Even thieves have more honor among themselves.

And then came along D-Day and as expected nothing was mellifluous. From the inane to the outrageous, we have seen it all. How can any self-respecting Indian extol the virtues of the parliament and its protagonists in view of the ruckus created each day of parliamentary sessions?

* Did any of the MPs ever consider asking the fundamental questions pertaining to the Nuclear Deal?

* Did it occur to the leaders of this vibrant nation that they could have asked the questions pertaining to sovereignty of this nation to take independent decisions.

* How many of the MPs actually asked for development and rights of their communities to be restored. They have forgotten the very people who elected them. Typical of the MP class( Mera Paisa)

* Did it occur to our judicial system to bar the MP convicted of crimes to be prevented form voting?

* And was the speaker a mute spectator to the unfolding drama that was much better than a saas-bahu serial or a Hollywood blockbuster?

In the melee that was unfolding, charges of bribery were thrown at the UPA. And the Saints on both sides were vehemently denying charges of bribery. Can we, the CITIZENS, expect to believe this hogwash from these leaders where corruption and bribery are the norm rather than the exception.

to be continued....

CESCI

The location for the NTS2, is a quaint location 19 kms off Madurai in the Gandhian inspired center called CESCI. For the furtherance of quiet thinking, inspiration, restoration of calm, this center does serve its purpose. Simple rooms with attached baths, vegetarian fare, green and brown surroundings energize the participants. Warm afternoons and cool evenings. A good venue for groups to bond, build and grow together. Very polite staff and the ambience deifinitely was worth it.
